SUMMARY:Exploring K-Art & Culture: Deoksugung Palace and  MMCA Deoksugung tour
DESCRIPTION:One of Seoul’s  five grand palaces built during the Joseon dynasty\, Deoksugung (meaning Palace of Virtuous Longevity) is unique among Korean palaces in having a modern seal engraving and a western style garden and fountain. Medieval and modern style architecture exists together in harmony in this palace.  \nThe program is divided into 2 parts. In the first part we will begin with a guided tour of the Deoksugung palace at 10:45am. The tour will last an hour and we will discover the palace’s highlights. \nDuring the second part of the program from 12:00 onwards\,  we will visit Deoksugung National museum of modern and contemporary art to view an exhibition ‘The Most Honest Confession: Chang Ucchin Retrospective’.  This exhibition is a retrospective of Change Ucchin (1917–1990)\, who\, along with Lee Jungseop and Park Soo Keun\, is regarded as a key figure in the history of Korean modern and contemporary art for his depiction of Korean sentiments.
