SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Exploring K-Art & Culture: Guided tour at Seodaemun Prison History Hall
DESCRIPTION:>>> ANNOUNCEMENT: \nThe event is CANCELLED due to unforeseen circumstances. \nThank you for your understanding  and we are looking forward to seeing you soon at our other events. \nK-art & culture exploration event will be back in September with details available soon in our calendar. <<< \nNational Liberation Day of Korea is celebrated every year on the 15th of August. On August 15th\, 1948\, the Republic of Korea was officially established. Marking this special day\, we will learn about the value of freedom and peace visiting Seodaemun Independence Park\, Seodaemun Prison History Hall and the gate of Independence. Through a guided docent tour\, we will learn about the history and sacrifices made by Koreans toward democracy and freedom. \n  \nSeodaemun Prison was built by the Japanese Empire to house political prisoners and independence activists during their occupation (1910-1945). Eighty years later\, the prison was turned into Seodaemun Independence Park on August 15\, 1992 to commemorate the Korean patriots. The Seodaemun Prison History Hall is a museum and memorial that honors those who suffered and gave up their lives for Korea during the Japanese occupation. \n  \nThe Independence Gate was built as a symbol of Korea’s independence. Measuring 14.28m high and 11.48m wide\, it is the first Western-style building in Korea modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in France\, and was designated as Historic Site No. 32 on 21 January 1963. Located near Seodaemun Prison History Hall\, Dongnimmun Gate was constructed to commemorate Korea’s long- standing desire for freedom and independence. \n  \nJoin us this month to celebrate South Korea’s National Liberation Day (15th August) by learning about its treacherous history and honoring the brave. \n  \nAfter each K-Art & Culture Exploration SIWA event usually there is an unofficial part of the program\, which is up to the participants to stay for a coffee or a lunch. So you might want to have a bit more spare time on that day.  \n  \nThe event is open to SIWA members and their guests!  \nRegistrations and payments need to be made by August 8th. \n  \nEvent date & time: 2023.08.10. 10:00 – 12:00 \n  \nEvent host: Yashu Sitani\, hospitality@siwakorea.com \n  \nVenue: 251\, Tongil-ro\, Seodaemun-gu\, Seoul \nSubway: Take Subway Line 3 to Dongnimmun Station (Exit 5) \n  \nNaver map: https://naver.me/FaSypwqZ  \n  \nMeeting spot: We will meet in front of the main entrance of Seodaemun Prison History Hall at 9.50 AM so we can start the tour on time. \n  \nTicket price: Adult (age 19-64): 3\,000 won \n  \nNr of participants:  max 10.  \nThe event is open to SIWA members and their guests. \n  \nIMPORTANT NOTE FOR PAYMENT:  \nIf you wish to make a payment through our website\, please make sure to use a credit card issued outside of South Korea\, as currently Paypal and its credit card system do not accept South Korean credit cards. \nWith South Korean bank account and credit card you can make your payment via Bank transfer: \n\nBank Name: KEB Hana Bank\nBank Account #: 359-910024-03504\nAccount Name: SIWA (시와)\nDescription: *please add your name*_EVENT NAME\n\n  \nAdditional Information:
