Common questions to help you out with using and interacting with the SIWA site.

General Questions

Any woman may join SIWA. Family members receive member rate for paid activities. We do have a maximum percentage of 33% of any nationality. However, as our membership draws such diverse members, we have never needed apply this waiting period to any membership application. Communications and activities are conducted in English.

Complete the Membership Registration Form, agree to the Terms & Conditions, and pay the membership fee of 60,000KRW for the full year membership (May 1 – April 30) or 30,000KRW for the partial-year membership that is available January 1 – April 30.


You have 3 options to pay for your membership fee.

1. Pay Online via PayPal

  • Select ‘Pay Online (PayPal) during registration. You will be redirected to the PayPal site where you may enter your credit card details to make the payment, which will be in USD.
  • After successful transaction, you will be brought back to the SIWA website and be able to log in to your account.

2. Bank Transfer

  • Pay the membership fee of 60,000KRW (valid from May 1 – April 30) or of 30,000KRW (is available January 1 – April 30) via bank transfer to the SIWA Membership Account. You will select the ‘Bank Transfer/In-Person’ option during registration and send your fee here:
    • Bank Name: KEB Hana Bank
    • Bank Account #: 359-910024-03504
    • Account Holder Name: SIWA  (시와)
  • Be sure to enter a custom transaction ID, your bank name, and name on the account so that we can confirm your payment faster.
  • When you make your bank transfer, insert your custom transaction ID on the bank memo line, if you are able.

3. Pay by Cash/ Credit Card

  • You can pay via cash or credit card at any Meet and Greet or Coffee Morning event.
  • If you intend to pay by credit card, please indicate the date of the event where you intend to pay in the ‘Expected Payment Date’ field, and we will verify if credit payments will be accepted.
  • Simply select the ‘Bank Transfer/In-Person’ option when choosing payment method on the registration form and type your method (i.e. either Cash or Credit) of payment in the payment fields.

It is the Member’s responsibility to provide proof of payment. When your payment is confirmed via bank transfer, your membership will be activated and you will receive a Welcome Message within 1 week (usually sent on Mondays) with your new Member ID number and login access.

SIWA members enjoy many benefits, including member discounts in different stores. SIWA provides a world of networking with international women of all ages, including an invitation to our members-only Facebook group. SIWA helps members integrate easily into a foreign city.

Process & Payments

Annual cost is KRW 60,000. Membership is valid from May 1 – April 30. Half-price membership is available January 1 – April 30.

  • If you want to pay with a non-Korean credit card you do NOT need to create a PayPal account. After you have completed the membership registration form, click to pay online. When you are redirected to PayPal choose the 2nd option ‘Pay by debit/credit card’.
  • Due to external regulations, it may not be possible to use a Korean credit card via PayPal to complete your SIWA payment. If you would like to try this method of payment, please create a Korean PayPal account and add your card to your account, before trying to make your SIWA payment.
  • If you want to use a Korean bank account instead of a Korean credit card you can either do a bank transfer from your bank’s website (you must choose ‘Bank Transfer/In-Person’ on the membership registration form if you do this), or you can link your Korean bank account to a Korean paypal account and pay online. However, only Korean citizens with a national ID number are able to link a Korean bank account to a Korean paypal account. ARC numbers are not accepted at this time.
  • If you want to use a non-Korean bank account to pay online you do NOT need to create a paypal account if you have a debit card. Follow the instructions to pay by non-Korean credit card. If you do not have a debit card you will need to create a PayPal account (it will be based in the country of your bank account) and link your bank account to it. Please note: It takes a few business days to link a bank account to PayPal.
  • If you have an existing PayPal account you created in another country you may use it. Note: You cannot link a Korean credit card or bank account to a foreign Paypal account. In order to use a Korean card or bank account you must create a second Korean PayPal account.

If you paid via PayPal, you will be sent a standard PayPal receipt to your associated PayPal email.

If you paid via bank transfer, you will receive a confirmation email once we process your transfer.

Please send an email to AND with your bank account data and the receipt from your transfer.

Unfortunately, we do not have generally offer refunds for SIWA memberships. Please contact membership for any questions.

Membership and ID

Membership numbers start with the 2 digit number of the last year of membership. For example, a valid membership number for May 1, 2017 – April 30, 2018, begins with “18.”

You have paid the membership fee, so your membership has been activated with the temporary Member ID number 18XXX, however your membership is incomplete.

Please fill out the membership form online in order to have a new Member ID number assigned.

When the membership form is submitted and your payment for the membership fee is confirmed, your membership will be activated and you will receive a Welcome Message within 1 week (usually sent on Mondays) with your new Member ID number.

If you fill out the form online and pay online using a credit card, then your membership is activated immediately. Other forms of payment will require a few days to process the payment and to activate our membership.

Yes and no.

The process to renew is simple. Simply click the ‘Renew Membership’ button through your SIWA account. You will be re-directed to a similar form and process from when you first registered your account.

Choose your payment method, and follow the instructions to renew your membership.

The SIWA membership year runs 1 May – 30 April.

Once your SIWA Membership has expired, you will no longer have access to the Members-Only pages and prices on

Membership Registration Guide

An avatar is a photo of yourself or an icon you want to use that represents you. Profile cover refers to the background image displayed behind your avatar in the Online Directory. You can upload your own images so that other members will be able to recognize you and get to know you.

The Online Directory replaces the paper directory SIWA used to print. It is a great way to find new people in your area or those who share your interests. Be sure to complete your member profile (must be logged in to see page) to make it easier for other members to connect with you.

The following fields are visible to other SIWA members. Some of these fields are not required to fill out. If you choose to fill out the field the information will display in the directory.

We are awaiting an update for the Directory software that will allow for opting out. It is not available at this time. If you do not want to be in the directory please choose a display name that is more private than your real name. For example, using an initial instead of your full last name.

No. Your information is only used internally and the Online Directory information you share is only accessible to SIWA members. Demographics information is only shared in aggregate so that your individual details remain private.
