Sunghwa grew up in New York City and pursued her career as a concert pianist, chamber musician, music journalist, and creative arts specialist. Upon relocating to Seoul with her family in 2012, her artistic projects expanded through collaborations with other professionals in different fields. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Music from the Juilliard School and a Doctoral degree in Music Education from Columbia University.

Sunghwa joined SIWA’s Welfare Committee in 2016 and has carried on her philanthropic work as the current President of SIWA. She strongly supports underprivileged Korean youth and adults and hopes to maximize benefits to disadvantaged communities through collaborative, artistic, and charitable work.
