K-Art & Culture Exploration: Day Trip to Pocheon

Embark on a Pocheon Day Trip from Seoul and immerse yourself in nature. 

K-Art & Culture will host a one-day tour on the outskirts of Seoul, allowing participants to enjoy the spring season while relaxing and exploring the beautiful scenery in the South Korean countryside.

Pocheon is located in Gyeonggi Province, and it’s under a two-hour drive from bustling Seoul. On this K-Art & Culture tour, we will escape to the great outdoors and enjoy a day in the South Korean countryside. During The Korean War, Pocheon-si served as a strategic location for both North and South Korea. It’s situated near the 38th parallel, the dividing line between North and South Korea, and was strategically important due to its surrounded by mountains and having a number of major roads and railroads passing.

Experience Highlights

01. Sanjeonghosu Lake – This lake was created in the 1920s during Japanese occupation and played an important role in supplying water to nearby cities. Immerse yourself in tranquil nature. Sanjeonghosu Lake is one of the main attractions in Pocheon and is situated in the valley between Myeongseongsan Mountain and Mangmubong Peak.

• Sanjeonghosu Lake – A light walking course on a wooden deck along the lake.
• Hanok café ‘Gabi Gabae’ for a drink, which offers a stunning view.

02. Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark – The first geopark in Korea, composed around a river, it has gained worldwide recognition for its geological excellence. Hantangang National Geopark covers 1,164.73 square km, including 493.3 square km in Pocheon. 

• Hantangang Geopark – Light trail walk. 
• Bidulginang Waterfall – The falls gets its name (“Pigeon Falls” in Korean) from the story of many 
• wild pigeons nesting in the caves around the waterfall.
• Hantangang Sky Bridge – Experience walking in the sky, making it ideal for hiking enthusiasts.
• Garam Culture Park Observatory / Observatory Café – A glance at the Hantan River

03. Sansawon Brewery & Museum – Discover traditional Korean drinks as liquor holds deep roots in Korean culture at the Korean liquor brewery. Experience liquor tasting, learn about the brewing process, and take a leisurely stroll in the peaceful backyard.

• 11:00 – 12:00 Sanjeong Lake Sightseeing / Hanok Cafe ‘Gabi Gabae’
• 12:00 – 13:00 Lunch / Vegetable Bibimbap 
• 13:00 – 13:30 Transfer to Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark
• 13:30 – 15:00 Arrive at Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark Light trail walk
• 15:00 – 15:30 Transfer to Sansawon
• 15:30 – 16:30 Sansawon Museum & Liquor Tasting 
• 16:30 – 18:30 Depart for Seoul drop-off point

Important Information: Exclusively for SIWA members and their guests.

The tour will be conducted in a small group (max. 10 people) and participants should be fit to walk a significant amount. 

We will have a private driver and van to accommodate 5 people per vehicle. There will be 1 SIWA member (Jean Kim / Claudia Baek) assigned per vehicle to manage the arrangements and communicate travel details such as the departure point, which will be determined three days before the tour departs.

A minimum of 5 people is required to book the tour. If the total number of participants is less than 10, which does not meet the requirements for booking two private vehicles , we can only organize the tour with 5 participants. The priority will be given to the first 5 people who registered and made the payment.  

Ticket price: 90,000 KRW / 74 USD  – Full payment is required before departure to secure your spot for the tour.

Registration deadline: 2024.04.19 

Registration and full payment are required at least 2 weeks prior to the day trip to allow our team to work out the arrangements and manage pre-booking of transportation. Once the tour is confirmed, the tour leader will contact individuals to secure their bookings.

Cancellation Policy

No refunds are available unless a replacement participant is found or SIWA has to cancel the tour due to lack of interest.  In the event of unforeseen circumstances or extreme weather, we will either reschedule the tour or provide a full refund.
